CHEM 129. General Chemistry for Agriculture and Life Science III. 4 units

Continuation of CHEM 128. Acid and base equilibria, buffers, transition elements, solubility, complex ions, hybrid orbital theory, molecular orbital theory, and nuclear chemistry. Experimental techniques of producing and characterizing coatings. Polymer characterization and analysis. Molecular weight analysis using viscometry, light scattering, and gel permeation chromatography. Thermal analysis using differential scanning calorimetry, thermal mechanical analysis and dynamic mechanical analysis. Polymer rheology. Infrared, Raman and FT-NMR spectroscopy.
